Crude Beef Tallow

Tallow is simply rendered beef fat. The rendering process cooks the raw fat, and turns it into a hot liquid (or solid at room temperature) fat. The highest quality beef tallow comes from the fat around the kidneys. Also called leaf fat, this beef fat from the kidney area is the highest in all the various nutrients that beef fat, especially grass fed beef fat, contains. The fat from near the kidneys is the choicest for rendering into tallow, but any beef fat can successfully be rendered. Tallow is primarily made up of triglycerides. It is solid at room temperature. Unlike suet, tallow can be stored for extended periods without the need for refrigeration to prevent decomposition, provided it is kept in an airtight container to prevent oxidation. Uses of tallow: used commonly in high-end shaving soaps production of shortening used in deep frying  production of biodiesel in much the same way as oils from plants  use in aviation biofuels use in printmaking, where it is combined with bitumen and applied to metal print plates to provide a resistance to acid etching. an additive to the substrate used in polymer banknotes  Cheaper alternative to make molded candles  Industrial lubricant, flux or soldering used in salves and ointments against intertrigo and sore skin
